Want to learn more about housing employers?

A great way to learn more about working in housing, the variety of opportunities available and the different types of organisations, including local authorities and housing associations, is to look at their websites. We've included a selection here, but you can also do your own research, including discovering who's around locally and nationally. The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) is a good place to start.

    Bield

    Bield Housing & Care; Care is one of the largest providers of housing and support services for older people in Scotland. The association owns or part owns over 4,600 properties and operates across 22 local authorities. The organisation’s stated purpose is to make it possible for more people to live their best lives, at home, surrounded by a supportive community.

  • Cairn Housing Group

    Cairn Housing Group operates nationally, providing around 3,200 affordable homes for rent for people with various needs. It has homes across Scotland, from Dumfries to Thurso. The Group has around 165 staff, with offices in Edinburgh, Inverness and Bellshill.

  • Cassiltoun Housing Association

    Cassiltoun Housing Association

    Cassiltoun Housing Association (originally Castlemilk East Housing Co-op) is Glasgow's oldest community-owned housing co-operative. The Association is committed to social responsibility and delivers projects which benefit local people and the local economy.

  • Elderpark Housing Association

    Elderpark Housing Association

    Based in the Govan area of Glasgow, Elderpark Housing Association was set up in the 1970s and currently has around 1,340 homes. The association’s vision is to create a vibrant neighbourhood where everyone can prosper. A staff team of around 25 people work to deliver this. Their work includes supporting a range of community projects.

    Fife Council

    Fife Council provides various types of council homes. Its housing team also provides a variety of advice and other services covering housing and related issues. A key part of their strategic role includes working with local partners to develop a local housing strategy.

    Link

    Link is a group of social enterprise companies serving more than 15,000 customers, making it one of the largest social landlords in Scotland. The group aims to lead in the ongoing development of sustainable communities. Link provides affordable housing, property management, regeneration, advice, financial inclusion and employability services.

  • Osprey Housing

    Osprey Housing

    Osprey Housing provides high quality affordable housing and services, supporting and contributing to communities throughout Aberdeenshire, Moray and the City of Aberdeen. It has 33 full-time and four part-time staff members, managing 1,800 social rented homes, with an ambition to grow.

  • Scottish Borders Council

    Scottish Borders Council

    Scottish Borders Council provides several housing functions, but no actual housing stock. Its housing team works with local partners to develop area-wide housing strategies, policies and plans, as well as giving advice and information to people in housing need, tackling empty homes and managing disabled adaptations, energy efficiency and affordable warmth.

    Wheatley is one of the UK's most significant housing, care and property-management groups, with over 210,000 customers across 19 local authority areas in Scotland. Over the past decade, its social landlords have created 11,000 jobs and 2,000 training places.
